Reese Witherspoon has put her spectacular mansion in one of the most exclusive areas of Los Angeles back on the market, just two years after purchasing the luxurious residence. The Oscar-winning actor is asking $25 million for her newly renovated mansion in Mandeville Canyon, which is $9 million more than she paid for it in March of 2020.

Witherspoon and her husband, Hollywood talent agent Jim Toth, bought the 7-bedroom, 9-bathroom, 9,504-square-foot estate for $16 million in March of 2020. The English Country-style manor sits on three acres of very private, gated land in a canyon in Los Angeles on what the new listing calls "one of the most secluded streets in Los Angeles."

The house has been expanded into 7 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms and 10,343 total square feet, and the exterior has been re-painted white, while the interior has been updated to an even more lavish standard than before. The gated estate features custom-designed finishes and woodwork in every room, with high ceilings and highest-end finishes throughout. The front doors open into a stunning two-story foyer with black & white marble and limestone tile framed and a sweeping white oak staircase.

Freezing temps impact almond bloom

in Agriculture/Community/Weather

Almond blossoms are a common sight in the Central Valley come February, but recent freezing temperatures could jeopardize this year’s bloom — and, subsequently, the upcoming almond crop.

Freezing temperatures are of the most concern during the bloom period. During the bloom, and especially right after the petal fall, is the most vital period of time for the developing nut. Even just a short, 30-minute exposure to freezing temperatures can cause measurable damage to a crop.

There were eight days in February where Turlock and surrounding towns experienced low temperatures of below 32 degrees, causing significant concerns for local farmers. Temperatures locally will drop to below freezing again this weekend.

Stanislaus State is continuing to offer scholarships to help students with college costs, with a March 2 deadline fast approaching. The scholarships cover the 2022-2023 academic year and are catered to student’s majors, but low student turn-out may be affecting the amount of awards that will be granted to applicants.

In comparison to previous years, there has been a lower turnout of students applying. According to the Stan State Financial Aid Office, each scholarship has a certain number of students that can be awarded. If there are less eligible students that have applied, the scholarship can extend its deadline. However, “if there aren’t enough students, the money doesn’t go out.”
