Jaedon Roberts kept his recruitment quiet until the end, and it remained that way even after it was over.
The 6-foot-3, 290-pound two-way lineman from Avon (Conn.) Old Farms recently made his college choice, but he did it without fanfare or announcement.
“He committed to Cal,” Avon coach Pierce Brennan said. “I think they are getting an extremely twitched up kid who is 6-foot-3, 290 pounds. He’s sudden. He’s twitchy. He’s got grown man strength at 18 years old.”
Roberts committed to the Bears about a week ago. He will enroll at Cal in January, and Brennan believes that gives him a chance to play next fall, despite the challenges of competing at the line of scrimmage for true freshmen.
