Drunk driver arrested after crashing into roundabout, pushing off-duty officer, and fleeing scene early Sunday morning

On Sunday, April 16th, 2023, at 1:35 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported weapon offense that had just occurred at the intersection of N Berkeley Ave and E Springer Dr, Turlock, after a man had reportedly brandished a knife at an off-duty officer with a nearby agency after having been involved in a collision.

While officers were responding, they received an update that the man was displaying objective symptoms of being under the influence, had pushed the off-duty officer, and was fleeing the area on foot.

Man sitting in vehicle shot in hotel parking lot Saturday evening

On Saturday, April 15th, 2023, at 6:44 pm, the Turlock Police Department, Turlock Fire Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported assault with a firearm that had just occurred at Fairfield Inn & Suites, 3301 Countryside Dr, Turlock, after a man had entered the lobby of the hotel to seek help after being shot.

Nearby officers arrived within minutes and found a black 2023 BMW X4 that had crashed into a bush on the northeast corner of the parking lot with a shattered out rear left window.

10-year-old dies after trampoline center fight in California

A 10-year-old boy died after a fight Thursday at a trampoline center in California’s Central Valley.

When reports first came out about the incident , officials said a boy, later identified as Anthony Duran, passed out while he was at the Rockin’ Jump trampoline center in Merced.

Waterford driver who died in suspected DUI crash identified. Three children were in the car

The Waterford driver who died in a suspected DUI-related crash with three children in the vehicle has been identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office.

Jose Munoz Jr., 25, was driving a Ford Mustang south on Ellenwood Drive, north of Waterford, with his 6-year-old son in the front seat and two 8-year-old nephews in the back seat, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Man involved in assault arrested after resisting officers with violence early Saturday morning

On Saturday, April 15th, 2023, at 4:48 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported battery in progress in front of a residence in the 1800 block of Henry Way, Turlock, involving a man and a woman.

When officers arrived on scene, they contacted the involved parties, including Michael Lopez, 33, of Delhi, and Lisa Olson, 46, of Ceres.

Man robs bank Friday afternoon

On Friday, April 14th, 2023, at 2:31 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a robbery alarm at Westamerica Bank, 2891 Geer Rd, Turlock.

When officers arrived on scene, a robbery was confirmed, however, there was a couple-minute delay in reporting it.

Local tech academy expecting record enrollment amid increased worker demand

Whether you consider yourself technically savvy or not, society has undeniably become more reliant on modern tech and software. It’s something that more people have come to realize, which has resulted in a dramatic uptick in interest and enrollment at Modesto’s Bay Valley Tech coding academy.

According to Bay Valley Tech president Phillip Lan, the academy is expected to teach over 1,000 students across their tuition-free code academy, digital skills bootcamp and tech internship program in 2023. By this time next year, he expects that figure to double.

Man arrested with fentanyl after being reported as suspicious person early Friday morning

On Friday, April 7th, 223, at 1:30 am, the Turlock Police Department and Stanislaus State Police Department were dispatched to a reported suspicious person at Dutch Bros Coffee, 1201 W Monte Vista Ave, after two men had been seen looking into the closed business.
