Sustainable seafood restaurant Coho comes to Mill Valley

The January opening of Coho in Mill Valley provides Marin County with its first fine-dining level establishment that is almost exclusively dedicated to sustainable seafood and seasonal veggies.

Espousing mindful, sustainable, local-sourcing practices is nothing new on Marin menus, but thus far, a lineup fully devoted to seafood has been more prominent in the fast-casual arena (Fish in Sausalito and Hook Fish in Tam Valley) and to restaurants on the banks of Tomales Bay.

County invests $650K to grow bio-industrial manufacturing jobs

The Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday spent the first of what potentially will be a $10 million investment in bringing bio-industry manufacturing operations to the region.

The five-member board voted unanimously to allocate $650,000 to support the formation and operations of BEAM Circular, an organization that will serve as the tip of the spear in an effort to reimagine and reinvigorate the local economy.

Her Modesto foster parent sexually assaulted her 20 to 30 times over the course of a year at his home, according to a lawsuit filed last month in Stanislaus County Superior Court.

The girl told her social worker what was happening, but the Stanislaus County Community Services Agency did nothing for a month as the abuse continued, the lawsuit alleges.
