At about 11:10pm Wednesday, Turlock Police Officer Marquez made a traffic stop at Lander Avenue and Fourth Street.
Marquez made contact with and identified the vehicle’s three occupants, including passengers John Cervantes, 49, of Turlock, and Celia Vigil, 38, of Turlock.

At about 3:08am Saturday, Turlock Police responded to a 9-1-1 security check at Hollybrook Townhouses in the 900 block of N. Olive Avenue.
There were at least three 9-1-1 hang-ups from an apartment, and there was history there between Ruth Gomez, 39, of Turlock, and her boyfriend in disturbances and assaults.

Family members of Turlock basketball coach Jonathan Williams, who was killed in a crash Dec. 29, have filed a $10 million lawsuit against the teenage driver at fault and his father.
The plaintiffs include the coach’s wife, Belinda Williams, and children, Jaydon, Jamison, Jordan, Jonathan Jr. and Shea. They seek damages in Stanislaus Superior Court for hospital and medical expenses, negligent infliction of emotional distress, loss of wages, grief and other compensatory damages. The suit filed April 16 names Romeil Soheylabady and his son as defendants.

A man was killed on Saturday evening after he was stabbed during a fight in Stanislaus County, according to the Modesto Police Department.
Police said the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Trenary Way, about a mile west of George Rogers Park.

Stanislaus State is investigating its longtime women’s basketball coach over allegations he mistreated players.
The allegations against him include verbally abusing players, misusing the program’s money — including not providing players with their full per diem for meals — inappropriate physical contact during training and exceeding NCAA limits for training hours during the preseason, according to an April 26 story in the Signal, the university’s student newspaper.

A Turlock man was sentenced on Wednesday to 51 years to life in prison for the murder of his neighbor in 2016, according to the Stanislaus County District Attorney.
Officials said 37-year-old Ricardo Rios killed Pedro Ruiz by stabbing him over 100 times, later dumping his body in an orchard.

Four people died in suspected fentanyl overdoses in four different areas of Modesto. And it all happened in a 12-hour period.

Sometime around 11 a.m., calls came in about an assault at the fast food restaurant after an encounter between an employee and an unknown person, police said.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office has identified the man killed following a confrontation as 46-year-old Bryan Tenbrink.
Law enforcement says Tenbrink was fatally shot in Modesto Friday afternoon.
