Turlock police investigating series of paintball attacks on bicyclists and pedestrians

Mitch Boehs was on his weekly bicycle ride with friends on Monte Vista Avenue in Turlock on Wednesday evening when he heard a series of pops and felt a sting in his left arm.

“I looked to the side, then I saw a guy leaning out the window of the car with a gun in his hand, shooting at us,” Boehs said.

When deputies arrived in the area, they contacted the victim in a nearby church parking lot who told them that while he was driving his white 2022 Dodge Durango, he was approached by two men armed with handguns.

When crews arrived on scene, they found a 33-year-old man who had been beaten with bars and bats by a group of several subjects who had all fled the scene.

On Thursday, May 4th, 2023, at 12:18 am, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of Geer Rd and E Tuolumne Rd, Turlock, observed a man driving a vehicle with a headlight out, so he made a traffic stop on him.

The officer made contact with and identified the vehicle’s two occupants, driver Hector Cardenas, 22, of Turlock, and passenger Diego Ornelas, 23, of Turlock.
