Authorities search for second suspect after officer shot in Turlock

A CHP officer was hurt after being shot in Turlock during an investigation on Thursday, the police department confirmed.

The Turlock Police Department said the officer sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Officials said Thursday’s shooting stemmed from a separate freeway shooting that happened Wednesday.

California Highway Patrol investigators located the freeway shooting suspect vehicle Thursday in the 600 block of High Street. As investigators got closer to the vehicle, a person began shooting at them, police said.

Investigators shot back but the suspect ran away. As investigators were chasing that suspect, a second suspect shot at officers several times, police said.

The initial shooter was arrested, Turlock police said.

Investigators are still searching for the second suspect.

Serial rapist suspect to stand trial in Stanislaus

A man facing rape charges in several counties will be tried in Stanislaus County because it is where the majority of the alleged crimes happened.

Joseph Frank Pineda Pimentel, 37, is facing seven counts of rape by force or fear and one count each of sexual penetration by force, attempted rape by force, sexual battery of a restrained person and sexual penetration by a foreign object, along with the enhancements that there were multiple victims and that he gave methamphetamine to one of the victims.

Joseph Frank Pineda Pimentel, 37, was arrested by the Turlock Police Department on Sept. 2. At that time his residence was listed as Denair. Court records show Pimentel has been a transient and occasionally resides with his mother in Manteca.

Suspect breaks into apartment, sets up barricade

A Turlock man was charged with a multitude of offenses after breaking into an apartment Sunday night and then barricading himself inside it with a knife.

The suspect was identified as Seth Mitchell, 28.

The incident began at 3:48 p.m. Sunday at an apartment in the 3500 block of Crowell Road.

Turlock Red Steer arsonist accused of $1.3 million real estate scam

Tracy Smith, the former Turlock resident who was convicted of burning down the Red Steer and implicated in a multitude of shady business and investment dealings, has been indicted for allegedly running a fraudulent real estate investment scheme in various parts of the state.

Smith is accused of scamming more than $1.3 million from seven victims, according to the California Attorney General's Office.

A 13-month investigation into Smith's activities and his business, Downkicker Inc., resulted in a special statewide criminal grand jury indictment for Smith on 38 counts, including one count of operating a fraudulent securities scheme, 19 counts of securities fraud, 17 counts of grand theft and one count of elder abuse. He was arraigned Monday in San Diego County Superior Court. The alleged crimes took place in the counties of San Diego, Riverside, San Francisco and Santa Clara between August 2017 to September 2018.

Police investigate hate crime at Columbia Park

A juvenile was arrested for attempted homicide and hate crimes after an assault at Columbia Park on Tuesday afternoon that left one injured.

The Turlock Police Department received a call of an aggravated assault that was occurring at Columbia Park around 3 p.m. Tuesday. Officers arrived on scene and located the victim who fled the park after sustaining non-life threatening stab wounds.

Turlock Police: Boy told homeless man to leave park, then stabbed him

TURLOCK, Calif. (KTXL) — Police said a homeless man was stabbed Tuesday afternoon in a Turlock park by a boy who now faces attempted homicide and hate crime charges.

Around 3 p.m., officers were called to Columbia Park and found the homeless man with stab wounds nearby, Turlock police reported.

Suspect leaves man bleeding, unresponsive in road rage incident

The Turlock Police Department is searching for a suspect who assaulted a man in an incident of road rage that left the victim unconscious, said the Turlock Police Department.

The incident began Tuesday night when the victim and the suspect were separately driving in the 2000 block of Geer Road and were nearly involved in a minor traffic collision.

Turlock band teacher arrested again, faces additional sex crime charges

A Turlock band teacher was arrested Thursday for a second time in connection with sex crimes he allegedly committed against two more former students, police said.

Daniel James Baudino, 38, first was arrested Nov. 1 after a former student accused him of sex crimes that allegedly occurred over a period of months in 2016.

Turlock police arrested him again Thursday afternoon in Merced. He was out of the Stanislaus County jail at the time after posting $150,000 bail.

Suspect smashes cars, assaults officer

Around 10:15 p.m. Sunday the Turlock Police Department responded to the 500 block of Angelus Street for a report of a man hitting vehicles with a board.

The first officer to arrive at the scene say the suspect, later identified as Jose Cisneros, 40, of Turlock, strike vehicles in an alleyway with a large board. The officer repeatedly ordered Cisneros to drop the board, but Cisneros ignored the order and began yelling at the officers at the scene, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Parmley.

Robber lets customer pay, then takes money

The Turlock Police Department is investigating a robbery in which the robber took money from a convenience store, then let a customer make their purchase and afterwards took that money from the clerk.

The robbery happened at 4:42 a.m. Friday at the Arco AM/PM in the 2200 block of Lander Avenue.
