THE BEAUTIFUL BLOG Bay Area Soccer: SF City and SF Glens end seasons

On Friday night, Orange County SC U23 defeated SF City FC 3-1 in City’s final match of the season. With the result, City will finish in sixth place in USL League Two’s Southwest Division, a disappointing result for a club that had an abundance of talented players but was prone to the kind of defensive lapses that caused them to give up 39 goals this season, most in the eight-team division.

The match was decided in the first ten minutes. Excellent ball movement led to Orange County’s 7th-minute goal.

Goalkeeper Paulo Guerin played a long ball into City’s half. After two passes, Devin Cornejo sent in a cross from the right side that Miguel Berry headed past a leaping Marcus Lau.

TURLOCK, Calif. — The Stanislaus County Fair is in full swing for its 10-day run in Turlock, celebrating its 108th anniversary.

“It’s definitely one of the most competitive fairs in the state!” Kristi Johnson, an FFA student showing a 277-pound pig said.

The county fair kicked off on Friday, the same day as the California State Fair, but ABC10 found many families sticking around town to keep it local.

TLC Replaced By En Vogue At Tuesday’s Stanislaus State Fair Line-Up Due To Illness

On the heels of their California State Fair cancellation due to illness, music duo TLC has also canceled its show at Stanislaus State Fair.

The group was scheduled to perform Tuesday night, but canceled “due to medical reasons in regard to one of the bandmates,” according to the fair’s Marketing and Communication Director Adrenna Alkhas.

On the bright, side, the group will be replaced by En Vogue.

One of the many benefits of summer is its time for car shows. We’ve been blessed with a number of fine showings of late. It’s almost an “embarrassment of riches” but there’s plenty to see and do now in the vintage vehicle realm.

We’ll begin with Atwater, then take in a delightful Thursday night cruise-in at a winery on the outskirts of Merced and finish off with a car show between Modesto and Oakdale. So this is a summer triple-header of sorts.

I’m very glad the first-ever Historic Downtown Atwater Summer Car Show on June 22 was an unqualified success. Somewhere between 150 and 200 old cars and trucks were lined up along Broadway from about Second Street almost to Winton Way, with the overflow spilling over to the adjoining parking lots.

The 2019 Stanislaus County Fair opens on Friday, July 12 and runs through Sunday, July 21 with plenty of motorsports events scheduled for fans of all ages in the Food Maxx Arena.

Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13 Monster Truck Madness gets the fair rolling. This event is a Joe Froome promotion with J & K Motorsports. Tickets for general admission are priced at $8 and reserved tickets are available and are just $10. Action on both days is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Sunday, July 14 it’s the Humpz and Horns Hispanic Rodeo. Wes Ibrahimi brings the rodeo to the arena at 6:30 p.m. and the event is free to the public.

The Turlock Lions Club presents the Destruction Derby Mayhem on Monday, July 15. This event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and is priced at $10 for general admission and $12 for reserved tickets. The following night, they’re at it again in Destruction Derby Apocalypse at 6:30 p.m.

Agricultural water suppliers must develop annual water budgets and drought plans that meet requirements of recently enacted legislation, and are meeting with state officials to comply with the updated law—a process that could ultimately affect water costs for California farmers and ranchers.

California Farm Bureau Federation Director of Water Resources Danny Merkley said the process stems from 2009 law, and updates passed last year, which require the state Department of Water Resources to consult with agricultural stakeholders to quantify water-use efficiency.
