One pleads guilty to Modesto triple murder. Death penalty trial postponed for co-defendants

At 3:40 a.m. on March 3, 2012, Joseph Luis Jauriqui entered an east Modesto home with orders by a high-ranking member of the Norteño street gang: Kill the 18-year-old woman who lived there and anyone else in the house.

On Monday, Jauriqui pleaded guilty to murdering three people that night: 16-year-old David Siebels, 19-year-old Alyxandria Tellez and 31-year-old Edward Joseph Reinig.

Man and woman killed in head-on crash on Highway 4 identified

Two people who died in a head-on collision on Highway 4 in north Stanislaus County have been identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office.

The collision occurred at about 6:40 a.m. Monday on Highway 4 just west of Dunton Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

COVID-19 test sites close in Stanislaus County as state ends emergency declaration

Stanislaus County’s drive-up testing sites in Salida and Turlock are closed as the California’s COVID-19 state of emergency comes to its end Tuesday.

The state of emergency declared in March 2020 gave Gov. Gavin Newsom authority to issue orders and use resources in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Most of the orders ended months ago and the state is phasing out remaining regulations.

Serial Shoplifter Arrested On 26 Warrants Tuesday Afternoon

On Tuesday, February 21st, 2023, at 12:46 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported shoplift in progress at The Home Depot, 2800 Countryside Dr, Turlock, after a known shoplifter had been spotted by a loss prevention officer inside the business selecting merchandise.

While officers were responding, the suspect, Ricky Agundez, 42, of Turlock, discarded the merchandise he had selected and exited the business.

Man Leaving For Work Pistol-Whipped Early Friday Morning

On Friday, February 17th, 2023, at 3:43 am, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a reported robbery that had just occurred at a residence in the 1100 block of Mae St, Turlock.

When deputies got on scene, they made contact with the victim who reported that he had been confronted and pistol-whipped in the head by an unknown man in the open carport area of his residence as he was leaving for work.

Teenage girl arrested after illegal sideshow in Merced. Dozens involved, police say

A teenage girl was arrested Saturday night in an illegal sideshow in Merced where 50 to 80 spectators were involved, according to the Merced Police Department.

The 16-year-old girl was arrested “for exhibition of speed, driving without a license and resisting officers,” the police department announced on its Facebook page late Saturday.
