On the afternoon of Tuesday, January 10, 2023, CHP traffic officers reported a fatal vehicle versus bicycle collision on Almond Avenue in the Modesto area. The incident occurred on Almond Avenue in the vicinity of Elm Avenue at approximately 3:20 p.m. and involved a Chevrolet sedan, officials said.

You can help Stanislaus County and the state coordinate disaster relief efforts by filling out a survey to report property damage caused by flooding, mud and debris flow, according to a news release from the county Sheriff’s Office, Emergency Services Division.
The Storm Damage Survey asks you to mark on a map where the incident took place, to describe it and upload pictures and basic information about yourself. The survey is not a report for insurance claims, according to the release.

Less than 24 hours after, and just around the corner from, a fatal shooting early Saturday, another deadly shooting took place early Sunday in downtown Turlock. It’s the city’s second homicide of the year, police say.
The Turlock Police Department got a 911 at 1:38 a.m. Sunday reporting a shooting behind the Udder Place and Grand Cru in downtown.

An estimated 413,081 people were jolted out of their sleep early Tuesday when the National Weather Service sent an alarm to Central California cell phones earning of possible tornado activity during a deluge of rain, wind, lightning and thunder.
A heavy storm cell hit Stanislaus County at around 3:43 a.m., bringing with it sheets of rain and rattling homes with lightning and thunder but quickly slipped into a the foothills to the northeast. Some residents reported losing some trees, fences and carports as casualties of the high winds.
