TID power rates will increase for first time since 2015. Here’s how much and why

Electricity customers in the Turlock Irrigation District will get a rate increase Dec. 1 to cover the rising cost of natural gas, its main power source.

A home will pay $8.05 more a month during winter based on an example from TID assuming 805 kilowatt-hours of consumption. It will be $12 if that home uses 1,200 kilowatt-hours during a summer month, when air-conditioning is in demand.

Man dies while trying to steal catalytic converter in Merced, police say

Missing California girl found dead in wooded area

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a missing 16-year-old California girl has been found dead in a wooded area less than a mile from the where she was last seen.

The Sacramento Bee reports that her body was found Friday afternoon and identified by the sheriff’s office in Nevada County northeast of Sacramento.

Merced mourns for 9-month-old killed in drive-by shooting

MERCED, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The makeshift memorial on 12th and Q Street in Merced went from a single teddy bear to a collection of toys on Thursday as people came to pay their respects to 9-month-old Darius King Grigsby, who police say was shot and killed on Wednesday while his mother and a friend walked him in a stroller.

Update: Modesto police investigating shooting death at a Coffee Road strip mall

A man was killed and a suspect arrested in a shooting Friday night in the parking lot of a strip mall on Coffee Road, according to Modesto police.

Officers were dispatched to a report of a person shooting a firearm in the parking lot of 1501 Coffee, near Coolidge Avenue, just before 9 p.m., according to Sgt. Kalani Souza. Radio traffic indicated the shooting was just outside a Mexican food restaurant.

If the names Brian Dahle, Angela Jacobs, Rob Bernosky, Lanhee Chen, Jack Guerrero, Nathan Hochman and Robert Howell don’t sound terribly familiar to you, it’s because they aren’t.
