TURLOCK, Calif. — One man has been arrested and two others remain wanted after police say they stabbed and killed a man in Turlock.
Police were called to the area of Lander and Bernell Avenues Friday morning. When they arrived, a 28-year-old man was found stabbed, he was rushed to the hospital where he later died.

The Modesto and Turlock irrigation districts, which provide electricity to nearly all of the homes, businesses, schools and other consumers in Stanislaus County, continue to power through the prolonged heat wave.
Spokeswomen for both districts in Tuesday emails thanked their customers for conserving and urged them to keep at it, especially from 4 to 9 p.m. The two districts have about 230,000 customers.

A driver who was ejected upon crashing into a power pole and then was run over by his vehicle died at the scene just outside Turlock late Saturday night, the California Highway Patrol reported.
According to a news release on the crash, the 51-year-old Stockton resident was driving a 2011 Honda west on West Monte Vista Avenue at about 60 mph.

Modesto police detectives arrested two Stockton men on suspicion of robbing an elderly woman in the Costco parking lot on Pelandale Avenue on Wednesday.
The 71-year-old victim was sitting in her vehicle just after noon when one of the men opened the passenger door and grabbed her purse from the seat, said Police Department spokeswoman Sharon Bear. Her purse contained her credit cards, cell phone and money.

Stanislaus County sheriff’s deputies broke up a large illegal sideshow at the former Crows Landing Naval Air Station on Sunday night and arrested one driver who fled at speeds over 100 mph, authorities said.
The department’s helicopter unit spotted about 200 vehicles at the airfield on Bell Road south of Patterson just before 7 p.m., said Sgt. Luke Schwartz.

His Way Recovery House — a nonprofit with a successful history in Manteca of helping people deal with substance abuse — is poised to take over the city’s emergency homeless shelter on Sept. 1.
The City Council when they meet Monday, Aug. 29, at 5 p.m. is being asked to approve a $777,616 agreement for His Way Recovery to operate the shelter through June 30, 2023.

The Emanuel Medical Center Health Foundation is launching a program for communities in Stanislaus and Merced counties to help lower the cost on insulin medication.
The program, the $2 Charitable Insulin Relief Plan is funded by the EMC Health Foundation and is a collaboration with TIN Rx, an independent pharmacy in Turlock. The plan covers the most-used insulin medications.
