‘Relay for Life’ set for John Thurman Field

With a 2023 fundraising goal of $150,000 and the “Relay for Life” of Greater Stanislaus County coming up this weekend, teams are making a final push for the event.

Staged at John Thurman Field in Modesto, the American Cancer Society signature event brings together teams from throughout Stanislaus County as well as some from San Joaquin County as well.

Survivor Luncheon Draws In Dozens To Celebrate

The grounds surrounding Duarte Nursery in Hughson was the setting this year for the Survivor Luncheon, a day to honor cancer survivors, as part of the Relay For Life celebration.

The Relay For Life of Greater Stanislaus County – which brings together teams from Modesto, Oakdale, Turlock and beyond – is scheduled at John Thurman Field in Modesto on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 8 and 9.

Four-year-old Brodie was celebrating a milestone moment — the end of his cancer treatment after battling stage 3 Burkitt lymphoma since he was diagnosed in December, Yahoo Lifestyle reported. However, because of the coronavirus, Brodie was unable to revel with the traditional bell-ringing in front of friends and family at the hospital.

But that didn’t stop the brave little boy from having some much-needed fanfare to mark the occasion, with the help of a few scary friends from Turlock, California.
