Turlock, CA – Vehicle Collision at Monte Vista Ave & Countryside Dr Injures One

A vehicle collision at the intersection of Monte Vista Ave and Countryside Dr on Thursday, March 21, left one person injured. Around 9:34 p.m., Turlock Police and Fire responded to the scene. Initially, reports indicated an unconscious individual. 

However, upon arrival, officers confirmed the accident involved two vehicles and one injured but conscious person. Emergency teams, including firefighters and AMR, were on-site assisting. The crash led to the northbound lane of Countryside Dr being diverted.

First responders unable to help Merced County crash victim due to live power lines

in News

CHP officers and paramedics arrived at the scene of a crash around 2:30 a.m. but were unable to assist the driver due to live power lines on the vehicle.

The crash happened on Santa Fe Drive north of Bradbury Road near Ballico in Merced County.

Minor Magnitude 2.7 Earthquake Ripples Near Merced, California – No Reports of Shaking Detected

Merced, California, experienced a light magnitude 2.7 earthquake on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at 2:54 pm local time. The seismic event, which occurred 45 km (28 mi) away from the city, had a very shallow depth of 22.1 km (14 mi) and, interestingly, went unnoticed as no reports of shaking were filed.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed the earthquake, with the epicenter at 37.3863°N latitude and 119.9868°W longitude in Mariposa, California, United States. The quake was also near Mammoth Mountain, the nearest volcano, 89 km (55 mi) away.

Modesto Fire crews respond to 274 calls for service in 24 hours

The Fourth of July had Modesto fire crews running from Modesto and Ceres to Salida and Oakdale.

According to the Modesto Fire Department, crews responded to 274 calls for service between 7 a.m. on July 4 to 7 a.m. on July 5. 

The calls for service included 65 fires, eight structure/building fires, 41 vegetation fires and 16 trash fires.

Firefighters finish patient’s yardwork

 Firefighters in Turlock traded in hoses and ladders for a lawn mower and a leaf blower Friday morning.

In a Facebook post, the Turlock Fire Department said that crews responded to a house after someone had a medical emergency while doing yardwork.

Tuolumne County storm damages rise to $18.2 million

Tuolumne County officials are hopeful that the county will still be added to a federal disaster declaration for California’s recent severe storms, with damages to local public entities now totaling more than $18 million.

Dore Bietz, coordinator of the county Office of Emergency Services, said officials from CalOES and the Federal Emergency Management Agency were in the county this week reviewing and documenting damages.

Evacuation warning issued for parts of Stanislaus County

An evacuation warning was issued for parts of Stanislaus County on Friday afternoon, according to the Stanislaus County Office of Emergency Services.

The warning is in place for rural Patterson and the Grayson area along the San Joaquin River.

President Joe Biden issues emergency declaration for California following storms

President Joe Biden Monday issued an emergency declaration for California to help people and local officials coping with the storms that have battered the state, an action that will speed federal help.

Biden’s declaration means that federal agencies will get involved immediately in helping state and local agencies coordinate and relief efforts. Gov. Gavin Newsom had requested the assistance.
