Turlock Police to have extra officers on duty for Super Bowl Sunday

The Turlock Police Department will have extra officers on duty throughout the city on Super Bowl Sunday to deter people from driving under the influence.

According to the police department, on Feb. 12, there will be extra officers on duty looking for drivers who appear under the influence of either drugs or alcohol.

Turlock Police officers donate money to replace 7-year-old’s stolen wheelchair

A Turlock family can now purchase a new wheelchair for a 7-year-old girl after officers donated $1,000.

According to the Turlock Police Department, a thief stole a wheelchair belonging to 7-year-old Miracle Melgoza. When members of the Turlock Police Officers Association heard about the theft, they decided to come together to help Melgoza's family purchase a new wheelchair.

Turlock police make additional changes to downtown security following January shootings

The Turlock Police Department said Friday morning that 911 lines are back up and working after being down in the area.

"The TPD Communications Center experienced an issue with AT&T Mobility and T-Mobile Wireless customers that were receiving fast busy signals when attempting to dial 9-1-1," the police department wrote on social media.

Turlock nightlife strong after back-to-back deadly incidents. How safe do patrons feel?

Deadly violence earlier this month in downtown Turlock didn’t appear to cut much into the nightlife scene last weekend. And from person to person asked, it wasn’t top of mind, if on their mind at all.

“I totally forgot about the shootings,” Stephanie Smith, 57, said as she and her husband Dennis, 61, were leaving Memo’s Cocina & Tequila Bar on Friday night, Jan. 20. Smith’s 25-year-old son’s girlfriend was the one who told her about the recent violence in the area.

One Arrested, Police Seek Info from Public in Fatal Market & South Broadway Shooting

Police in Turlock have opened an investigation into a recent fatal shooting, according to a department media release.

Around 2 AM on Saturday, January 14th, officers responded to the area of Market and South Broadway downtown for a report of a shooting and found evidence that corroborated this report, as well as evidence that at least one person had been struck by gunfire, but no individuals remained at the scene.

Turlock Downtown Shooting makes 2nd Homicide for 2023

“Turlock, CA – The Turlock Police Department received a 9-1-1 call this morning at 1:38 a.m. reporting a shooting behind the Udder Place and Grand Cru in downtown Turlock. Officers were immediately dispatched to the reported location and found a 31-year old male victim, identified as Robert Morgan of Turlock, laying on the ground and CPR was in process by uninvolved persons.

Turlock Police to increase patrols downtown following deadly weekend

TURLOCK, Calif. — Law enforcement officials in Stanislaus County are increasing patrols this weekend in downtown Turlock following a violent two days last weekend that left two people dead and one person injured in two separate downtown shootings.

In a Facebook post Friday, the Turlock Police Department said that they will be increasing patrols in the downtown corridor and surrounding areas Saturday and Sunday.

Victims of Hilmar double homicide identified. They were ages 74 and 69, coroner says

The victims of a double homicide in Hilmar have been identified by the Merced County Sheriff Coroner’s Office as Lionel Alcantar Bazan, 74, and Juanita C. Lopez, 69, both of Hilmar, according to Deputy Alexandra Britton.

Deputies responded shortly before 9 p.m. on Jan. 10 to a home in the 19000 block of American Avenue in Hilmar for a possible homicide, according to authorities.

24 hours and hundreds of feet apart, 2 killings in downtown Turlock. ‘We will not tolerate’

Less than 24 hours after, and just around the corner from, a fatal shooting early Saturday, another deadly shooting took place early Sunday in downtown Turlock. It’s the city’s second homicide of the year, police say.

The Turlock Police Department got a 911 at 1:38 a.m. Sunday reporting a shooting behind the Udder Place and Grand Cru in downtown.
