Man dies while trying to steal catalytic converter in Merced, police say

MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man is dead after police say the car he was trying to steal a catalytic converter from fell on top of him.

Man killed in fatal hit-and-run in Turlock. Police release photos of suspect’s vehicle

Turlock police are looking for the suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on Fulkerth Road on Tuesday afternoon.

What authorities believe is a white Acura TL was traveling west on Fulkerth, between Tully Road and Countryside Drive, when it hit a pedestrian in the roadway, according to Sgt. Mike Parmley.

Suspect breaks into apartment, sets up barricade

A Turlock man was charged with a multitude of offenses after breaking into an apartment Sunday night and then barricading himself inside it with a knife.

The suspect was identified as Seth Mitchell, 28.

The incident began at 3:48 p.m. Sunday at an apartment in the 3500 block of Crowell Road.

Suspect apprehended for Turlock robberies

The Turlock Police Department has arrested a suspect believed to be behind a series of robberies at two Turlock convenience stores.

The suspect was identified as Isaac Harp, 19, of Turlock. Harp is accused of robbing the AM/PM stores located in the 100 block of E. Monte Vista Avenue and the 4700 block of N. Golden State Boulevard on multiple occasions from July to September.

The first robbery happened at 1 a.m. July 24 in the 100 block of E. Monte Vista Avenue. The clerk told officers the suspect came in with a gun in one hand and a hammer in the other. He demanded the cash from the register and the clerk complied. As the suspect ran out, he dropped the bag of money, picked it back up and then jumped over the wall that was behind the store.

Suspect crashes stolen pickup truck at Modesto intersection, injuring woman and 3-year-old

MODESTO, Calif. (KTXL) — A suspect crashed a stolen pickup truck into a woman’s car Tuesday in Modesto, injuring her and the child who was with her.

Around 9:30 a.m., Stanislaus County sheriff’s deputies went to the area of South Carpenter Road and California Avenue to investigate reports of a Toyota Tacoma that had been stolen from a home, according to police.

The Modesto Police Department says deputies spotted the Tacoma but lost sight of it until Modesto officers saw it just before 10 a.m. A man behind the wheel was driving recklessly in the area of Paradise Road and Yosemite Avenue.
